Robert Abela is trying his hardest to portray himself as a Prime Minister who leads with integrity, and to give the government he leads an air of respectability.
Robert Abela is not a person of integrity. He was the legal advisor of a Prime Minister who was awarded the dubious title of the 2019 PERSON OF THE YEAR IN ORGANIZED CRIME AND CORRUPTION – Joseph Muscat, and formed part of Muscat’s cabinet, along with:
- Muscat’s chief of staff and closest friend and ally Keith Schembri, who stands accused of money laundering, corruption, and falsifying documents.
- A minister allegedly involved in a bank heist.
- A minister allegedly involved in the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
- A minister whose then husband – an assistant police commissioner at the time – was leaking information about the investigation into Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination to the mastermind behind the heinous deed.
- A junior minister who earned a ton of money which she did not not see fit to include in her declaration of assets.
After Muscat was forced out of office and Robert Abela was elected Prime Minister in his stead, Abela chose to retain virtually the same cabinet with a couple of exceptions.
Abela would not recognise integrity if it were staring at him in the face. He is a product of his mentor and master, Joseph Muscat.
