Disgraced, discredited Prime Minister Joseph Muscat keeps rather unusual company. His close friends are not the type of friends you’d expect a Prime Minister to have. Neither are they the type of friends any Prime Minister should have.
For example Yorgen Fenech, the alleged mastermind (or one of the masterminds) behind Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination.
The intimacy between Fenech and Muscat was such that Fenech felt moved to gift Muscat an expensive Bvlgari watch in 2014 costing €20,000 at the time. And it was not the only gift the businessman gave the Prime Minister throughout the years Lovin Malta reported.

A Prime Minister should never accept such a gift, under any circumstance or for any reason.
There can only be one reason why a businessman would give a Prime Minister such a gift. There can only be one reason why a Prime Minister would accept such a gift.
For example Ali Sadr Hasheminejad, the Iranian owner and chairman of the now defunct Pilatus Bank who faces a life sentence in jail in the United States for various charges.
Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, his wife Michelle and OPM chief of staff Keith Schembri travelled to Venice together in 2015 to attend his very exclusive wedding. Lovin Malta revealed that Yorgen Fenech was also invited and travelled with them. They stayed at the Roccoforte Hotel in Florence – at the expense of Ali Sadr.

We have a saying in Maltese – “Ma’ min rajtek xebbahtek”. A loose translation would be that birds of a feather flock together. So if a Prime Minister counts a number of crooks as his closest friends, the probability is that he is a crook too.
