Given the manifest lack of transparency in the relationship between Balzan, a media house owner, and the government, I find it hard to understand why Keith Schembri’s 1a.m. buddy and government propogandist Saviour Balzan has taken Malta’s dismal rating on the RSF World Press Freedom Index (Malta’s rating this year is the worst it has ever been.) so very, badly.

A place in hell
Yet when one is sorry, one does not stop at making an apology. One tries to make amends, to curb the impunity that made the assassination possible, and to ensure nothing of the sort ever happens again. And two months later, not a single recommendation found in the report has been implemented by the Prime Minister. So the apology was nothing but a lie, lip service.
An upside down country
It’s not normal to have a bevy of sitting ministers indicted by a public inquiry to be responsible for the assassination of a journalist.
And it’s definitely not normal for people to support and vote for these ministers. People these ministers call idiots.
Absolution denied!
We will suffer consequences. Would you put your money in a bank that has a bad reputation? Or invest with a financial practitioner with a bad reputation?
Vigil for Truth and Justice
Every story that is not investigated increases the impunity in this country. Every story that is not investigated continues to dismantle law and order and the rule of law in this country. Every story that is not investigated puts our brave journalists increasingly at risk.
